Three IDF Soldiers Returned from Gaza, Remembered as Heroes

After over two years in captivity, the bodies of Lt. Col. Asaf Hamami, Capt. Omer Neutra, and Sgt. Oz Daniel are finally home.

In the stillness of night, Israel welcomed home three of her bravest sons. The remains of Lieutenant Colonel Asaf Hamami, Captain Omer Neutra, and Sergeant Oz Daniel IDF soldiers who were killed on October 7 defending the nation against Hamas were finally returned from Gaza. Their homecoming, though heartbreaking, is a moment of honor and national remembrance.

The operation to retrieve the bodies was coordinated with the Red Cross and executed by the IDF and Israel’s internal security agency, Shin Bet. Once back on Israeli soil, forensic teams at the National Institute for Forensic Medicine in Tel Aviv confirmed the identities, bringing closure to families who had waited over two years for answers.

Lt. Col. Asaf Hamami, 41, led the Southern Brigade of the Gaza Division and fell in combat near Kibbutz Nirim. He was in the thick of battle, leading his men against a violent Hamas incursion into southern Israel. Capt. Omer Neutra, 22, a dual Israeli-American citizen from Long Island, and Sgt. Oz Daniel, just 19, were stationed together in a tank near the Gaza border when they too were tragically killed. The three were abducted and their bodies held by Hamas as part of a cruel psychological and political campaign.

In a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office, the government affirmed its unwavering commitment to recovering all hostages and fallen heroes. "We will not compromise on this," the statement read. "We will spare no effort until all our hostages are returned every last one of them."

Their return is more than a military operation it is a testament to Israel's sacred promise to never leave a soldier behind. For the families of Hamami, Neutra, and Daniel, the pain remains, but so does the pride in their sons’ valor. These young men gave their lives on the frontlines, defending their people and their land from a brutal enemy.

The entire nation stands united in mourning and in tribute. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten. Their legacy lives on in the spirit of Israel, a land that honors its defenders with love, respect, and an unbreakable national bond.

Israel remembers its heroes. And Israel brings them home.
