IDF Conducts Precision Strikes on Hamas Positions Across Gaza in Second Round
Israel maintains targeted pressure on Hamas without full-scale invasion or reservist call-up.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Wednesday that it has struck dozens of Hamas terrorists and terror targets across Gaza since hostilities resumed early Tuesday morning. The latest airstrikes signify Israel’s continued military pressure on Hamas while carefully avoiding a full-scale ground invasion.
Following Tuesday’s pre-dawn offensive, which saw Israel launch massive strikes against 80 targets including senior Hamas leadership, battalion headquarters, rocket launchers, and other terror assets the pace of attacks has become more measured. According to Hamas sources, up to 400 Gazans were killed in the initial wave, though these numbers are not independently verified and include Hamas operatives.
Since Tuesday afternoon, IDF operations have shifted to a lower intensity, but still focused on eliminating key Hamas infrastructure. Among the targets struck was a Hamas battalion headquarters in Daraj Tuffah, northern Gaza, reportedly a hub for the terror group's operational planning. The navy has also participated in these precision strikes.
Importantly, the IDF has not initiated a call-up of reservists, nor are there visible preparations for a large-scale ground invasion. This deliberate restraint suggests that Israel’s immediate objective is to weaken Hamas’s capabilities without escalating to a broader conflict.
Hamas has yet to fire a single rocket at Israel since hostilities resumed, reflecting the effectiveness of Israel’s preemptive air campaign. Recent intelligence suggested Hamas may have been plotting limited incursions into Israeli territory, but the IDF’s renewed offensive is primarily linked to stalled hostage negotiations rather than an imminent Hamas attack.
The current phase of military action marks the end of the ceasefire, which had held since January 19.
Israel remains determined to neutralize Hamas’s military infrastructure and prevent further threats, all while keeping strategic control over the scale of the conflict.
