IDF: No Tolerance for Hezbollah Weapon Transfers from Syria
Israeli Strikes Intensify Against Hezbollah Infrastructure Amid Rising Tensions in the North.
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief Spokesperson Rear-Admiral Daniel Hagari announced on Thursday that Israel will strike any attempt to transfer weapons to Hezbollah from Syria. This follows a series of escalations in the region, with Hezbollah and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) launching attacks on Israeli territory, including rockets reportedly manufactured in Syria.
“We are identifying rockets and other weapons that Hezbollah is launching at Israeli territory that were manufactured in Syria,” Hagari stated. “We will attack every attempt to bring weapons from Syria to Hezbollah. And we will attack all infrastructure in Syria whose purpose is to produce weapons for Hezbollah.”
Israeli airstrikes have targeted sites from Hezbollah strongholds in Beirut to Damascus, including a reported strike on a bridge near Qusayr, close to Lebanon’s border. Syrian state media claimed 15 fatalities from strikes in Damascus suburbs, which Israel says were directed at PIJ infrastructure under Iran’s direction. The IDF described PIJ as another Iranian proxy operating under the cover of the Syrian regime.
Since the launch of Operation Northern Arrows in September, the IDF has destroyed hundreds of Hezbollah terror compounds and critical infrastructure. This includes weapons storage facilities and command centers in Hezbollah-dominated areas, such as Dahiyeh in southern Beirut.
In southern Lebanon, Hezbollah’s rocket launchers, including those responsible for attacks on the Western Galilee and central Israel earlier this week, have been primary targets. Over 140 launchers were destroyed, and the IDF reported killing 200 Hezbollah operatives in the past week, including a senior commander in Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Forces.
The conflict continues to strain Lebanon, with Hezbollah’s critics, such as Christian leader Samir Geagea, urging the group to disarm. “With the destruction of all of Hezbollah’s infrastructure and its warehouses, a big part of Lebanon is also being destroyed. That’s the price,” Geagea told Reuters, blaming Hezbollah for dragging Lebanon into war under the pretense of defending against Israeli aggression.
Meanwhile, the IDF confirmed the downing of two drones launched from Syria and continued operations in Gaza, striking weapons storage facilities and eliminating dozens of Hamas fighters. The military emphasized Hezbollah’s use of civilian areas for weapon storage and launch sites, condemning the group’s strategy of using human shields.
As tensions escalate, Israel remains focused on neutralizing threats from both its northern and southern borders.
