Indonesia to Send Troops to Gaza Under Trump Peace Plan
First commitment to international force marks key step in post-war Gaza stabilization talks.

Indonesia has become the first nation to commit troops to a new international peacekeeping effort in Gaza, advancing the next phase of President Donald Trump’s “Peace to Prosperity” initiative. The country’s defense ministry confirmed that Indonesian forces are preparing to deploy under the framework of the International Stabilization Force (ISF), with troops expected to arrive in Gaza following a meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and President Trump on February 19.
This development marks a significant moment in post-conflict diplomacy, as countries cautiously move toward stabilizing Gaza under an international mandate. While several nations among them Italy, Egypt, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Qatar, and the UAE have floated potential involvement, Indonesia remains the only nation to pledge its participation with certainty.
Indonesian forces, numbering in the thousands, will primarily be tasked with patrolling ceasefire lines and supporting border control efforts. However, officials say their mission will be more than just military. Troops have undergone extensive training in humanitarian support roles, including medical aid and infrastructure rebuilding an approach meant to facilitate stability without direct confrontation.
Despite the troop deployment, there is currently no mandate for ISF soldiers to engage Hamas or enforce disarmament. That responsibility remains a political flashpoint. The Trump administration has issued Hamas a 100-day deadline to disarm, set to expire in May. Should that deadline lapse without compliance, the ISF’s future in the region remains uncertain and the possibility looms that Israel may resume military operations to finish the job.
For now, Israel is observing these developments carefully. The presence of international forces may offer a temporary buffer, but the core threat Hamas’s continued military capacity remains unresolved. Peacekeeping without disarmament risks becoming little more than a holding pattern.
Israel has always pursued peace with strength and clarity. Any real and lasting solution for Gaza must include the removal of terror at its root. Still, this international movement may signal a shift, where the world acknowledges the need for long-term security alongside reconstruction.
