Gallant Says Iranian Attack Left Israel’s Air Force Unscathed

Israel’s defense minister assures the country’s air capabilities remain fully operational.

Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant declared on Sunday that last week’s Iranian missile attack had no impact on the Israeli Air Force (IAF), as the nation prepares for a significant response to Iran's aggression. Speaking during a visit to Nevatim Air Force Base near Beersheva, Gallant emphasized that Israel’s air defense and offensive capabilities remain intact, ensuring the continued security of the nation.

“The Iranians have not even touched the IAF’s capabilities,” Gallant stated confidently. “Not a single squadron has been damaged, not a single aircraft has been harmed, and no runways have been put out of operation.” Gallant stressed that any attempts to damage Israel's military assets would not deter the country from taking decisive action, highlighting the IAF's recent operational successes in Gaza and Beirut as examples of its strength.

Gallant's remarks come in the wake of Iran launching 200 ballistic missiles, reportedly in retaliation for the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and other Tehran-aligned figures. Despite the missile barrage, Israel’s air force remains fully operational, with no disruptions to its defense or attack capabilities.

“We will choose the time and place of our response,” Gallant continued, underscoring Israel’s preparedness for future operations. He also reassured the Israeli public that the government is committed to bringing home the hostages taken by Hamas and ensuring the safe return of northern residents displaced by the ongoing conflict.

As tensions escalate, there are reports that Israel is planning a significant military response, which could include targeting Iranian nuclear facilities or oil fields. However, U.S. President Joe Biden has expressed opposition to these potential strikes, urging Israel to consider alternative targets. Despite the White House's concerns, Israel has not ruled out a military strike on Iran’s nuclear program, with officials indicating that no guarantees have been made to refrain from such actions.

Meanwhile, Iran has prepared for potential retaliation. Iranian media reports suggest Tehran is ready for another attack should Israel take military action, claiming that the country has identified multiple Israeli targets. According to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, last week’s missile attack was a demonstration of Iran’s capability to level any location within Israel.

As the region braces for a potential escalation, Gallant’s reassurances reflect Israel’s determination to maintain its military edge while standing firm against Iranian threats.
