Isaac Accords Aim to Deepen Israel-Latin America Ties

Inspired by President Milei, the new initiative builds on Abraham Accords to expand trade, diplomacy, and cultural bridges.

A bold new initiative known as the Isaac Accords is reshaping the landscape of Israel’s international relations this time with Latin America at the center. Spearheaded by Argentine President Javier Milei and backed by the Genesis Prize Foundation (GPF), the Isaac Accords are modeled on the spirit of the Abraham Accords, aiming to forge robust economic, diplomatic, and cultural partnerships between Israel and Latin America’s leading democracies.

President Milei, the 2025 Genesis Prize Laureate, donated his $1 million award to launch the American Friends of Isaac Accords (AFOIA), a U.S.-based organization dedicated to turning this vision into reality. As GPF Chairman Stan Polovets explained, “The Isaac Accords are about continuity just as Isaac carried forward Abraham’s legacy, this initiative builds on the foundation of the Abraham Accords to extend Israel’s reach into the Western Hemisphere.”

Former U.S. Ambassador to Costa Rica S. Fitzerald “Fitz” Haney now leads AFOIA as its managing director, working alongside a network of pro-Israel NGOs, regional governments, and philanthropic partners. “Our goals are ambitious but clear,” Haney said. “We’re connecting Israel to Latin America through frameworks for trade, tourism, education, and technology.”

Initial partnerships are already underway in Costa Rica and Panama nations with strong Jewish communities and a desire for closer ties to both Israel and Washington. Though neither country currently recognizes Hamas or Hezbollah as terrorist organizations, Haney believes progress is achievable. “They want to align with Israel and the U.S., and we’re helping make that happen.”

Early grants totaling $500,000 have been awarded to organizations like the ILAN Israel Innovation Network, Rambam Health Care Campus, and the Israel Allies Foundation, among others. Together, these partners are building a comprehensive network supporting innovation, advocacy, and cross-border collaboration.

Phase two of the initiative is looking toward Paraguay, Guatemala, Honduras, and possibly Bolivia where recent political changes could create openings for improved relations with Israel. AFOIA’s strategy includes long-term investments aimed at influencing public opinion, encouraging cultural exchange, and shifting diplomatic alignment.

“We’re measuring success in three areas,” said Polovets. “Are attitudes toward Israel improving? Are economic and educational exchanges growing? Are UN votes and diplomatic ties moving in our favor?”

The U.S. government has taken note. With growing interest from policymakers and think tanks like the Heritage Foundation, the Isaac Accords are emerging as a key tool for regional engagement and democratic alliance-building. As Haney pointed out, “When Israel and Latin America strengthen ties, it also strengthens the U.S. position globally.”

The economic potential is enormous. Brazil and Mexico are projected to be top global economies within a generation. Cultivating strong ties with these nations now lays the groundwork for a future where Israel is more deeply integrated into global trade and influence networks.

While formal agreements are still in development, the groundwork is being laid through free-trade deals, embassy moves, recognition of terror groups, and the adoption of the IHRA definition of antisemitism. As Polovets noted, “Diplomatic progress takes time. But the momentum is real and irreversible.”

The Isaac Accords mark a new chapter in modern Zionism extending Israel’s influence, strengthening alliances, and bringing nations closer to the Jewish state based on shared values of freedom, innovation, and moral clarity.
