Israel Eliminates Top Hezbollah and Quds Force Terrorist in Beirut Airstrike

Precision strike in Dahieh thwarted major terror plot coordinated with Hamas.

In a decisive overnight operation, Israel eliminated senior Hezbollah terrorist Hassan Ali Mahmoud Bdeir in a precision airstrike deep in the heart of Beirut’s Dahieh district, a known Hezbollah stronghold. Israeli security and intelligence agencies confirmed the strike targeted a high-level operative in both Hezbollah’s Unit 3900 and Iran’s Quds Force, citing his involvement in coordinating a “significant and imminent” terror attack on Israeli civilians.

The Israel Defense Forces, Shin Bet, and Mossad jointly announced the strike, highlighting Bdeir’s role in recent collaborations with Hamas that posed an immediate threat to Israel’s population centers. The operation, conducted with pinpoint accuracy, neutralized a major strategic figure in Iran’s proxy terror network.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported three fatalities and seven injuries resulting from the predawn strike. It marks the second Israeli operation in Dahieh in recent days. The earlier strike reportedly targeted a Hezbollah drone storage facility used for attacks on northern Israel.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the operation, accusing Israel of violating Lebanese sovereignty and threatening regional stability. They called on the international community to uphold United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which outlines the terms of the ceasefire following the 2006 war.

Hezbollah has yet to issue a formal response. However, Secretary-General Naim Qassem had previously warned that further Israeli actions could provoke retaliation if the Lebanese government fails to address the situation diplomatically.

Israel maintains that all operations are defensive and intended to prevent further terror plots, particularly in light of ongoing aggression by Hezbollah and Iran’s regional proxies. Since the October 7 massacre by Hamas, Hezbollah has launched near-daily attacks from Lebanon in support of Hamas’s war against Israel, violating ceasefire terms and drawing repeated warnings from Israeli leadership.

Bdeir’s assassination underscores Israel’s continued resolve to strike terror leaders at the heart of their operations, even deep inside hostile territory. His elimination not only disrupts planned attacks but sends a powerful message to Iran and its network of proxies: no terrorist involved in targeting Israeli civilians is beyond reach.
