Sa’ar Confirms Israel’s Approval of Trump’s Hostage Deal Plan
Foreign Minister Sa’ar confirms readiness for agreement based on return of hostages and Hamas disarmament.

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar confirmed Tuesday that Israel has formally agreed to US President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the war in Gaza, provided the deal meets the clear benchmarks laid out by Israel’s Security Cabinet.
“The war can end tomorrow,” Sa’ar stated. “President Trump said it clearly two days ago: Israel said yes to his proposal. We are ready to accept a full deal that would end the war based on the Cabinet's decision. We only have two simple demands: the return of our hostages and for Hamas to lay down its arms.”
Trump’s plan, currently under negotiation, links a full ceasefire to the release of all remaining hostages. It is structured in phases to ensure security measures can be verified and implemented incrementally, with additional steps to stabilize Gaza in the aftermath.
Sa’ar emphasized that Israel’s position is driven by five nonnegotiable principles, adopted in August by the Security Cabinet. Chief among them: the unconditional return of all hostages and a guarantee that Hamas cannot rebuild its military infrastructure. “These aren’t just conditions for our national security,” Sa’ar explained. “They also promise a better future for the people of Gaza one without the shadow of Hamas’ tyranny.”
Despite Israel’s agreement to the American framework, Hamas has pushed back on several elements most notably the demand to release hostages immediately as a first step. This has introduced complications to the plan’s sequencing, which relies on verifiable mutual commitments to move forward.
Israeli officials stress that any final agreement must adhere strictly to the Cabinet’s benchmarks, rejecting pressure from international actors seeking shortcuts or concessions that could undermine long-term regional stability.
Sa’ar warned against current international moves to unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state, calling them premature and dangerous. “Yesterday’s terrorist attack shows exactly why creating a Palestinian terror state in the heart of our homeland is a grave mistake,” he said. “It’s not just a threat to Israel it rewards the October 7 massacre and gives Hamas a reason to keep fighting.”
Ultimately, Israel’s message is one of cautious openness: ready to end the war under the right conditions, unwilling to compromise its security, and determined to secure the future of its citizens.
