Over 20 Palestinian Arabs Detained in Israel for Honoring Freed Hamas Terrorists
Security forces crack down on pro-Hamas demonstrations and incitement.
Israeli security forces arrested more than 20 Palestinian Arabs on Tuesday night for participating in pro-Hamas celebrations following the release of convicted terrorists. The coordinated operations by the IDF, Israel Police, and Shin Bet targeted individuals involved in incitement and support for terrorism in Samaria and eastern Jerusalem.
Nine suspects were detained in Kafr Aqab and Al-Ram, where they had openly celebrated the release of Hamas terrorists. According to the IDF, these suspects took part in demonstrations that included incitement, waving Hamas flags, and other acts of public support for terrorism.
“The IDF and security forces will continue to act against those who engage in disturbances, incitement, and terror glorification,” the military stated.
In a separate crackdown, Israeli police arrested 12 additional individuals who had joined a pro-Hamas rally in Kafr Aqab, where participants were seen firing weapons in the air, waving Hamas flags, and displaying posters glorifying terrorism. Security forces seized fireworks, cash, and Hamas paraphernalia during the operation.
The arrests come in response to footage that surfaced of a rally celebrating the release of Hamas terrorist Ashraf Zughayer, who was convicted in 2002 for driving suicide bombers to their attacks. His release was part of the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, under which 200 convicted terrorists were freed in exchange for hostages.
As part of the agreement:
109 Palestinian terrorists were sent back to Judea and Samaria
21 were returned to Gaza
Approximately 70 were deported to Egypt, with plans to relocate to other countries
Israel remains committed to preventing terrorist glorification and cracking down on incitement that fuels further violence. Security forces have vowed to continue operations against those who support or promote terrorism.
