The summit explored various methods to counterbalance China’s pricing strategies, including setting minimum price standards and implementing tariffs to protect miners outside China from being undercut. US Vice President JD Vance introduced the idea of a preferential trade zone among allies, dedicated to critical minerals, aiming to ensure secure access through trusted supply chains.

This move represents a shift in American and allied economic policy from dependency to self-sufficiency. By emphasizing the development, refinement, and production of these vital resources within allied nations, the US and its partners are seeking to forge a secure and sustainable future.
