Israeli Commando Operation Destroys Iranian Missile Facility in Syria

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have officially confirmed a daring commando raid deep inside Syria that destroyed an underground Iranian missile production facility. The footage, released on Thursday, reveals details of the September 8 operation, in which Israel’s elite Shaldag unit struck the Scientific Studies and Research Center (CERS) in Masyaf, a key hub for Iran’s missile development.

Located about 200 km north of Israel, the facility was a major component of Iran’s efforts to arm its proxies, particularly Hezbollah. “The site was a flagship project of Iran in an effort to arm its proxies on the northern border of the State of Israel,” the IDF stated. The advanced production lines at the facility were used to manufacture precision-guided missiles and long-range rockets, significantly increasing Hezbollah’s firepower.

Among the weapons produced at CERS were M600F missiles with a range of up to 300 km, precision M302 missiles reaching 130 km, and other shorter-range rockets. Intelligence suggests that these missiles were intended for Hezbollah, reinforcing the terror group’s capabilities against Israel. Additionally, the facility was widely suspected of being involved in the development of biological and chemical weapons.

The IDF commandos not only destroyed the site but also retrieved critical intelligence, weapons, and a planetary mixer used for producing solid rocket fuel. This operation was a significant blow to Iran’s regional ambitions and disrupted its weapons supply network.

Following the mission, Israel continued to carry out strategic airstrikes against Syrian and Iranian military assets, particularly after the fall of the Assad regime in December. The collapse of Damascus raised concerns that advanced weaponry could fall into the hands of Islamist factions, prompting swift Israeli action.
