Israeli Airstrikes Destroy IRGC Aircraft Used to Arm Terror Proxies
Targeted strikes at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport dismantled a key supply network used to move weapons and money across the Middle East.

Israel’s ongoing campaign against Iranian military infrastructure has delivered a significant blow to Tehran’s regional supply network. In a precise operation over the weekend, Israeli airstrikes destroyed a fleet of transport aircraft used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to move weapons and funds to proxy groups across the Middle East.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, the strikes targeted Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport, where aircraft linked to the IRGC’s Quds Force were stationed. The Quds Force is responsible for coordinating Iran’s military activities beyond its borders, including support for armed groups throughout the region.
Israeli aircraft destroyed 16 transport planes believed to be central to this logistics network.
“These aircraft were part of a supply corridor transferring weapons and money to the regime’s proxies across the Middle East,” IDF spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said during a military briefing.
The destroyed fleet reportedly included large cargo aircraft such as Boeing 747 transports along with older Antonov planes that had been used to carry military equipment, funding, and other resources to Iranian-backed groups.
Among the primary beneficiaries of these shipments was Hezbollah in Lebanon, which has long relied on Iranian support for its arsenal and operations.
Satellite imagery from Mehrabad Airport following the strike shows extensive destruction across sections of the airfield where the aircraft were parked. Several cargo planes appear heavily damaged or completely destroyed.
Israeli officials revealed that the airport had been under close intelligence surveillance for years. The IDF Intelligence Directorate had reportedly tracked suspicious flight activity tied to the Revolutionary Guards, monitoring takeoffs and landings believed to be part of Iran’s regional supply network.
According to the military, some of the aircraft had been moved into scrap yards or maintenance zones within the airport complex. Israeli analysts believe this was likely an attempt to conceal the planes from aerial detection and make them harder to identify as active logistical assets.
Despite those efforts, Israeli intelligence continued to track the aircraft and map the network they supported.
The strike formed part of Israel’s broader military campaign targeting Iranian infrastructure during Operation Roaring Lion. The operation has focused on degrading the capabilities of the Iranian regime and disrupting the systems used to arm and finance militant groups throughout the region.
“In the past ten days we have struck the Iranian terror regime and destabilized it,” Defrin said.
According to Israeli military officials, the campaign has inflicted heavy losses on Iranian forces and affiliated units.
Since the start of the operation, the IDF reports that more than 1,900 soldiers and commanders connected to the Iranian regime have been eliminated, with thousands more wounded.
Israel views the destruction of the aircraft fleet as a major step in weakening the logistical backbone that enables Iran to supply its network of armed proxies.
For years, Tehran has relied on a combination of air routes, land corridors, and covert financial transfers to maintain influence throughout the Middle East. These networks have helped funnel weapons and resources to groups operating in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and beyond.
By targeting the transport aircraft used in these operations, Israeli forces aimed to strike directly at the infrastructure that sustains these activities.
Israeli officials say the campaign will continue as long as necessary to prevent the Iranian regime from expanding its military reach and threatening regional stability.
