Israel launches first electric boat on the Sea of Galilee
Francis Eco Sailing’s Corazine ushers in a new era of sustainable tourism on the Kinneret.

Israel has set sail toward a greener future with the launch of its first commercial electric boat, now cruising the waters of the Kinneret also known as the Sea of Galilee. Francis Eco Sailing, a pioneering offshoot of the well-established Francis Sailing, introduced the “Corazine” as the flagship of its sustainable maritime initiative.
This innovative vessel is the first of its kind to receive a sailing license from Israel’s Ministry of Transport. It marks not only a leap in eco-tourism but also a broader national commitment to cleaner transportation methods.
“This isn’t just another boat launch it’s a milestone for clean transportation in Israel,” said Moshe Francis, co-founder of Francis Eco Sailing. With over 30 years of experience in the sailing industry, Francis views the Kinneret as a national treasure deserving of environmentally responsible tourism.
Named after the ancient village of Chorazin near the lake, the Corazine embodies both historical reverence and cutting-edge technology. The electric boat can carry 55 passengers (with future expansion planned to 100), cruises silently at 12 knots, and offers 18 hours of operating time without emissions, oil spills, or engine noise.
“Corazine is not just a boat it’s a floating symbol of where the industry is headed,” added Nir Lahav, CEO of Francis Eco Sailing. “No smoke, no noise, no oil in the water. Just pure, silent movement that enhances the onboard experience while protecting the natural beauty around us.”
The company's long-term plan includes expanding the fleet to four electric boats by 2026. But the mission doesn’t stop at electrification. Francis Eco Sailing is also revamping its entire tourism approach to be more environmentally mindful from staff training to guest engagement.
In an era of climate awareness and conservation, Israel is once again leading with innovation, blending tradition and technology. Corazine sails not only as a tourist attraction but also as a bold declaration of values.
