Israeli FM Sa’ar ‘Hamas Shows No Indication of Laying Down Arms’

Israel warns that Hamas seeks to retain military control in Gaza despite ceasefire talks.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar has dismissed any suggestion that Hamas is prepared to disarm, warning that the terrorist group remains committed to military control in Gaza.

"I don’t see any indication that Hamas is ready to disarm," Sa’ar said in an interview with ABC News chief national correspondent Matt Gutman on Tuesday.

He emphasized that while Hamas laying down its arms would fundamentally shift the conflict, there is no sign of such a move.

According to Sa’ar, Hamas appears to be adopting a strategy similar to Hezbollah in Lebanon allowing another entity to manage Gaza’s civilian affairs while it maintains military dominance.

"They are looking at a different approach, something similar to the Hezbollah model allowing someone else to handle the ruins they left behind in the Gaza Strip while they remain the most powerful military force there," Sa’ar explained.

He made it clear that Israel will not accept such an outcome.

"For us, there is no way to guarantee our security without the complete disarmament of the Gaza Strip Hamas, Islamic Jihad, all of them," he stated.

The Israeli government has consistently maintained that Hamas' military dismantlement is a core objective of the war. Any ceasefire or post-war arrangement that leaves the terrorist group armed poses an unacceptable security threat to Israel.
