Israel Successfully Tests Advanced Gabriel 5 Naval Missile

Cutting-edge sea-to-sea missile enhances Israel’s maritime strike capabilities.

The Israeli Navy has successfully conducted its first operational test of the Gabriel 5, a next-generation sea-to-sea missile designed to strengthen Israel’s maritime superiority. The test, announced by the IDF, was carried out by the Missile Ship Flotilla in collaboration with the Defense Ministry’s Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D) and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

During the exercise, the missile was launched at a vessel simulating an enemy warship, demonstrating its precision targeting and real-world operational effectiveness. According to the IDF, the system seamlessly executed detection, tracking, and engagement processes, reinforcing its reliability in combat scenarios.

This advanced capability is a key addition to Israel’s naval arsenal, enhancing deterrence and response readiness against maritime threats. Brig.-Gen. Yehuda Almakias, head of the DDR&D’s Research and Development Unit, emphasized that the successful test “provides the Israeli Navy with greater operational freedom and strengthens Israel’s maritime offensive capabilities.”

Capt. A., head of the Israeli Navy’s Weapons Department, highlighted the strategic importance of the Gabriel 5, stating that it enables Israeli forces to better counter evolving threats while already being deployed in active combat arenas. “The Israeli Navy will continue enhancing both offensive and defensive capabilities to maintain maritime superiority,” he added.

Boaz Levy, CEO of Israel Aerospace Industries, praised the test’s outcome, noting that the Gabriel 5 followed its planned trajectory with pinpoint accuracy, successfully striking its target. “We are committed to continuously advancing the capabilities of the Israeli Navy, upholding our legacy of developing some of the world’s most sophisticated combat systems,” Levy stated.

With this latest milestone, the Israeli Navy strengthens its position as a dominant force in regional waters, equipped with cutting-edge technology to protect Israel’s maritime interests.
