Head of Hezbollah’s Medium-Range Rocket System Neutralized by Israel
IDF targets Hezbollah’s medium-range rocket chief and intensifies operations against terror strongholds in Southern Lebanon.
In a significant blow to Hezbollah, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Tuesday that it had killed Ali Tawfiq Dweiq, the commander of the terror group’s medium-range rocket array. The airstrike occurred in the area of Kfar Jouz in Southern Lebanon.
Dweiq, who assumed his role in September, was responsible for launching over 300 rockets at Israel, targeting areas as far as Haifa and central Israel. His elimination comes amid intensified Israeli efforts to neutralize Hezbollah’s rocket and missile capabilities.
“Over the past few months, the IDF struck dozens of terrorist infrastructure sites used by Hezbollah’s medium-range rocket array, including launchers aimed at the State of Israel, weapons storage facilities, and additional terrorist infrastructure,” the IDF stated.
Since October 8, 2023, Hezbollah has launched approximately 16,000 rockets, missiles, and drones at Israel, causing significant destruction and displacing over 60,000 northern Israeli residents. The barrage began a day after Hamas’s massacre in southern Israel, with Hezbollah joining the conflict in support of the Gaza-based terror group.
The IDF’s 98th Division has ramped up precision operations in Southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah’s central strongholds. Ground and aerial units have struck dozens of sites, including rocket launchers, command centers, weapons depots, and observation posts.
In one notable raid, Israeli forces discovered a stockpile of Hezbollah weapons hidden in the courtyard of a local school. The cache included ammunition, firearms, explosives, and an observation post. “This serves as further proof of Hezbollah’s cynical use of civilian infrastructure for its terrorist activities, which endangers the residents of Southern Lebanon,” the IDF said.
Additional searches revealed underground terrorist infrastructure, yielding hundreds of weapons, ammunition, RPGs, and cannons. All items were seized and dismantled to prevent further attacks.
The IDF emphasized its continued commitment to localized, intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling Hezbollah’s capabilities while minimizing harm to civilians.
As Israel persists in neutralizing threats on its northern border, these operations send a clear message to those endangering its citizens: their actions will not go unanswered. Share this story and subscribe to our newsletter for ongoing updates.
