Israel and Hungary Sign Agreement to Boost Space Cooperation
The new partnership will advance technology, research, and industry, strengthening ties between the two nations.

Israel and Hungary signed a landmark agreement on Tuesday to deepen cooperation in the field of space. The accord, signed in Jerusalem by Innovation, Science, and Technology Minister Gila Gamliel and Hungary’s National Economy Minister Márton Nagy, paves the way for collaboration in research, satellite technology, security, and education.
The agreement encompasses a wide range of areas, including satellite operation, Earth observation, technological development, science education, professional exchanges, and joint conferences and workshops. It is designed to build a platform for mutual benefit, combining Hungary’s emerging production capabilities with Israel’s advanced technological expertise.
Minister Gamliel emphasized the strategic and symbolic value of the deal. “The agreement we have signed constitutes a significant milestone in Israel-Hungary relations and opens a new chapter of national security and resilience through advanced technological cooperation,” she said. She also noted Hungary’s consistent support for Israel since the October 2023 Hamas massacre.
Nagy highlighted the economic significance of the partnership, pointing to projections that the global space industry could reach $1.8 trillion by 2035. “Hungary, with its new production capacities, and Israel, with our advanced technology, can together capture a significant share of this development,” he said.
The Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology stressed that the agreement will strengthen Israel’s dual-use capabilities in both civilian and military sectors. Satellite technology remains central to Israel’s intelligence, communications, and observation needs, and the partnership promises to advance these capacities further.
Dr. Shimrit Maman, chair of the Israel Space Agency, described the agreement as a major step in Israel’s international space strategy. “The agreement will connect Israel’s scientific, research, and industrial capabilities with those of our Hungarian partners, in order to advance applied research, strengthen the education system, and deepen collaboration with academia and industry,” she said.
This latest accord is part of a broader expansion of Israeli-Hungarian ties, which have recently grown to include cooperation in green energy, artificial intelligence, and medicine. By extending this partnership into space, Israel and Hungary are signaling a shared vision of technological progress and global leadership.
The agreement underscores Israel’s role as a nation where innovation drives not only economic growth but also international cooperation. Share this article or subscribe to our newsletter for more stories on Israel’s scientific achievements.
