Israel’s Largest Business Delegation Travels to India to Boost Trade

Strengthening economic ties through innovation, technology, and strategic cooperation.

Israel’s largest-ever business delegation has embarked on a mission to India, aiming to expand trade opportunities and enhance technological collaboration between the two nations. Led by Minister of Economy and Industry Nir Barkat, the delegation’s two-day visit represents a major step in strengthening the economic partnership between Israel and India.

“The departure of the economic delegation to India is a significant step towards deepening economic ties between the countries, strengthening the Israeli economy through significant growth in exports and lowering the cost of living through expanding imports,” Barkat stated. He emphasized that Israel’s expertise in innovation, combined with India’s vast market, presents immense opportunities for economic growth.

During the visit, the Israel-India Business Forum will bring together top government officials and industry leaders to explore new avenues for collaboration. Business-to-business meetings and professional tours of India’s innovation hubs, including India Energy Week 2025, will provide Israeli companies with insights into India’s evolving economic landscape.

The delegation will focus on key sectors such as agriculture and water technologies, cyber and information security, digital health, renewable energy, Industry 4.0, and smart transportation. Israeli companies specializing in these fields will engage with Indian counterparts to foster joint ventures and technological partnerships.

Avi Balashnikov, Chairman of Israel’s Export Institute, highlighted India’s strategic importance, calling the delegation an “exceptional opportunity to expand trade and technology ties.”

Bilateral trade between Israel and India continues to grow, with total trade volume reaching approximately $5.01 billion in 2024. Israeli exports to India amounted to $2.39 billion, while imports from India stood at $1.42 billion. The diamond trade between the two countries added another $1.2 billion to overall trade.

Beyond commerce, the delegation will also explore ways to strengthen labor market ties. Discussions will focus on expanding cooperation to bring professional manpower from India to Israel under fair employment conditions, addressing workforce shortages while benefiting both economies.

“India has enormous potential to become one of Israel’s key trading partners, and advanced Israeli technologies are significant to the needs of the Indian government on its path to growth,” said Dr. Ron Tomer, President of Israel’s Manufacturers Association.

This delegation marks another milestone in the rapidly expanding economic relationship between Israel and India. As Israeli innovation meets India’s industrial potential, both nations stand to gain from increased collaboration.
