Israel and India Collaborate to Counter Rising Drone Threats
Joint seminar showcases cutting-edge technologies to address growing aerial challenges.
In a significant boost to bilateral security cooperation, Israeli and Indian defense officials recently held a joint seminar in New Delhi to address the growing threat posed by aerial drones. The event, which concluded on Wednesday, focused on sharing technological and operational expertise to counter drones increasingly used in intelligence gathering, weapon carrying, and precision attacks.
Brig. Gen. (Res.) Yair Kulas, Director of the Israel Defense Ministry’s International Defense Cooperation Directorate, emphasized the importance of the seminar in creating business opportunities and strengthening ties between the two nations. “We see great importance in continuing the security cooperation between the countries and believe that activities of this kind help promote the activities of Israeli industries under the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Self Reliant’ policies,” Kulas said.
Drones have emerged as a global challenge due to their ability to cause large-scale damage while evading traditional detection methods. This has spurred the development of advanced counter-drone technologies, many of which were demonstrated during the seminar.
Nine leading Israeli defense companies showcased cutting-edge solutions designed to detect, neutralize, and intercept drones. Companies like D-Fend Solutions, Septier, and Sentrycs presented Cyber Radio Frequency (CRF) systems that can locate and neutralize drones before they become threats. Smart Shooter introduced its intelligent fire control systems, which allow small arms to intercept drones with precision.
ThirdEye Systems highlighted its AI-driven vision and robotics technologies, capable of detecting and identifying drones and small aircraft. Other major players like ELTA Systems, Rafael, Elbit Systems, and Skylock demonstrated sensor-based solutions incorporating radar, electronic warfare, and communication systems to tackle drone-related challenges.
More than 150 business meetings between Israeli and Indian defense companies were held during the event, fostering collaboration on dual-use technologies for both defense and civilian applications. The seminar concluded with site visits to major Indian defense entities, further solidifying the commitment between the two nations.
Shri Amit Satija, Joint Secretary of the Indian Ministry of Defense, praised the cooperation, stating, “The seminar reflected the commitment of India and Israel to continue and deepen security cooperation. We see great importance in sharing knowledge and technologies and in developing joint solutions to the modern threats facing both sides.”
As drone technology continues to evolve, the collaboration between Israel and India is poised to play a crucial role in addressing these growing security challenges.
