Trump Announces Israel Agreed to 60 Day Gaza Ceasefire Terms
Deal hinges on Hamas acceptance as Netanyahu insists on security-first conditions.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced Tuesday night that Israel has agreed to the “necessary conditions” for a proposed 60-day ceasefire in Gaza. The move marks a critical juncture in efforts to bring an end to the months-long conflict, as Washington intensifies pressure on Hamas to accept the terms.
“My representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis today on Gaza,” Trump stated. “The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring peace, will deliver this final proposal. I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this deal, because it will not get better. It will only get worse.”
The framework, which includes security assurances for Israel and potential steps toward regional stabilization, was welcomed by pro-Israel voices in the United States. Marshall Wittmann, spokesman for AIPAC, said, “We appreciate the efforts of President Trump and Steve Witkoff to work with our ally Israel to reach a hostage deal in Gaza.” He added that the burden now falls squarely on Hamas to accept the offer.
AIPAC also took aim at those calling for an unconditional ceasefire, noting their silence as Hamas remains the primary obstacle to peace. “That silence is revealing,” the organization said.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking last week, reiterated his readiness to end the war under strict conditions. “All of the hostages will return home. Hamas will lay down its weapons, leave power, and its leadership whoever is left will be exiled from the Strip,” Netanyahu stated. He emphasized that Gaza must be completely demilitarized and that the Trump peace plan, which offers a structured roadmap for regional recovery, will be implemented.
“To those calling for Israel to stop fighting before these goals are achieved, you are essentially calling for Hamas to remain in power,” Netanyahu warned. “This would nullify the sacrifice of our heroic soldiers and put our people at risk of more attacks, kidnappings, and atrocities.”
While Israel has expressed its agreement to the structure of the proposed ceasefire, its continuation will depend entirely on whether Hamas chooses to accept the deal. Trump’s remarks suggest the current offer represents a final opportunity for de-escalation.
The path to peace now lies in Hamas’s hands. For Israel, the message remains unchanged: security, demilitarization, and the return of every hostage are non-negotiable.
