Sa’ar Calls on Nations to Sever Diplomatic Relations With Iran

Following Hezbollah’s missile assault in retaliation for Iran’s leadership losses, Israel launches forceful response under Operation Roaring Lion.

Israel’s foreign minister delivered a blunt message to the international community this week: the world must stop treating Iran as a normal diplomatic partner.

In a virtual briefing with roughly 60 ambassadors stationed in Israel, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar called on governments around the globe to sever ties with the Iranian regime following its escalating military aggression across the region.

Sa’ar said the attacks launched by Iran against Israel and other neighboring countries demonstrate that Tehran represents a direct and growing threat far beyond the Jewish state.

“Israel is not prepared to live under a threat of elimination,” he told the diplomats. “No country in the world would accept such a reality.”

The briefing came as Israel continues to confront missile attacks launched by Iran and its proxies following the launch of Operation Roaring Lion, the joint Israeli–American campaign aimed at dismantling Tehran’s missile and nuclear infrastructure.

Sa’ar also addressed the recent rocket attacks launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon, saying they once again prove the group operates as a proxy for the Iranian regime rather than in the interests of the Lebanese people.

“Hezbollah operates in the service of Iran and against the interests of Lebanon and its citizens,” he told the ambassadors.

For years, Israel has warned that Hezbollah functions as Tehran’s forward military arm on Israel’s northern border. The Iranian-backed organization has amassed tens of thousands of rockets capable of striking Israeli cities.

Recent attacks from Lebanon have reinforced Israel’s position that the Iranian regime’s network of proxies poses a regional threat.

The foreign minister also pointed to Iran’s attacks and threats against Gulf states as further evidence that the regime’s ambitions extend well beyond Israel.

According to Sa’ar, the pattern of aggression demonstrates that Iran’s destabilizing activities endanger multiple countries throughout the Middle East.

By targeting both Israel and regional partners, the Iranian leadership has revealed itself as a driver of instability rather than a responsible actor on the international stage.

Signs of growing diplomatic pressure on Tehran have already begun to appear.

Germany’s Foreign Ministry announced it had summoned Iran’s ambassador in Berlin to demand that the regime halt its attacks against countries in the region.

In a statement, the ministry condemned Iran’s missile and drone strikes as “arbitrary and disproportionate,” particularly those targeting civilian areas.

“We have unequivocally called on the Iranian regime to immediately cease its reckless attacks,” the German government said.

For Israel, the stakes could not be higher.

Officials in Jerusalem argue that Iran’s leadership has spent decades openly calling for the destruction of the Jewish state while building the military capabilities needed to pursue that goal.

Sa’ar’s appeal to the diplomatic corps reflects Israel’s belief that confronting Tehran’s aggression requires not only military deterrence but also international isolation of the regime.

As Israel continues to defend itself against ongoing attacks, its leaders are urging the world to recognize the broader danger posed by the Iranian regime.

The message from Jerusalem is clear: confronting the threat today could help prevent far greater instability tomorrow.
