Several Young Israelis Injured in Bus Crash in Northern Thailand

One in critical condition as Foreign Ministry works to support victims and families after vehicle overturns near Chiang Mai.

A bus carrying ten Israeli tourists overturned in northern Thailand on Saturday, injuring six young Israelis, one of them critically. The accident occurred near Chiang Mai, a popular travel destination, prompting a rapid response from Israel’s Foreign Ministry and local medical teams.

According to initial reports, all six injured individuals are in their twenties. One is in life-threatening condition, while the others sustained moderate to mild injuries. All were taken to nearby hospitals for urgent care. As of Saturday night, the critically injured victim's condition had not improved, according to KAN News.

The Foreign Ministry confirmed it is actively involved in the response. “The Department for Israelis in Distress Abroad and the embassy in Thailand are in continuous contact with the injured on the ground and their families in Israel,” a ministry representative said. Israel’s consul general in Thailand is already en route to the crash site to assist with coordination and support.

Families of the injured are being flown to Thailand to be by their loved ones' side, reflecting Israel’s ongoing commitment to its citizens, no matter where they are in the world.

This tragic incident follows another deadly accident involving Israeli tourists in Thailand just days earlier. On Thursday, an Israeli father was killed and his son seriously injured in a motorcycle crash.

Thailand remains a major travel destination for young Israelis, especially post-army backpackers. The Israeli government maintains a robust support system in the country to handle emergencies affecting its citizens, working closely with hospitals, insurance providers, and local authorities.

As the situation unfolds, the hearts of Israelis turn toward Chiang Mai, praying for the full recovery of the injured and the safe arrival of their families.
