Israir Airlines Recognized for Advancing Israel–Lithuania Relations
Direct flights between Tel Aviv and Vilnius boost tourism, trade, and people-to-people diplomacy.

In a celebration of diplomacy through business, Israir Airlines has been awarded the prestigious Team Lita Business Award by the Embassy of Lithuania in Israel, recognizing its pivotal role in strengthening economic and cultural ties between Israel and Lithuania.
The award was presented during a special ceremony on October 23, honoring the Israeli airline for launching a direct Tel Aviv–Vilnius flight route that has already had a notable impact on tourism, trade, and bilateral cooperation.
Ambassador Audrius Brūzga emphasized that the recognition was more than symbolic. “This is an acknowledgment of an initiative that truly reshapes the geography of Lithuanian–Israeli cooperation,” he said, noting that the new air route not only brings business partners closer but also facilitates greater visibility, connectivity, and opportunity for both nations across sectors like technology, innovation, and tourism.
Israir’s efforts are emblematic of the broader momentum between the two nations. Former Deputy Minister of Transport and Knesset Member Uri Maklev, a proud Litvak, highlighted the deep historical bonds shared by Israel and Lithuania and noted the rapid acceleration of bilateral cooperation in recent years not only in economics but also in cultural and technological spheres.
Lithuania itself is fast emerging as a dynamic hub of innovation. Renowned for its fintech leadership, startup culture, and a burgeoning gastronomic scene, the country has earned global accolades, including a recent Top 10 global travel destination ranking by Lonely Planet and the No. 1 spot in Europe.
The Team Lita Business Award, created by the Lithuanian Embassy in Israel, honors companies that make a tangible impact on trade, investment, and cultural exchange. It also rewards businesses that contribute to social responsibility and community well-being, either in Lithuania or among its diaspora in Israel.
Last year, the award went to Wix, one of Israel’s most prominent tech firms, further reflecting the growing synergy between the two countries.
Israir’s direct flight initiative has brought Israel and Lithuania closer in more ways than one. With rising tourism, enhanced trade opportunities, and a reinvigorated cultural connection, this award marks a milestone in a partnership that continues to grow stronger and more meaningful.
