Three Heroes Severely Injured in Fire at Jerusalem Girls’ School
Courageous civilians risked their lives to rescue trapped students from a blazing seminary.
Three young men are in critical condition after risking their lives to save dozens of students trapped in a fire at a Jerusalem girls’ seminary early Monday morning. The fire, which broke out on the top floor of a boarding school on David Yellin Street, left 38 people injured but miraculously claimed no lives.
The blaze erupted before dawn, engulfing the upper level of the building in flames and filling the halls with thick smoke. Fire and Rescue teams arrived quickly, finding civilians already working heroically to evacuate the trapped girls.
Among the rescuers were three men, aged 18 to 25, who charged into the burning building before emergency crews arrived, guiding many students to safety. Despite their injuries, their bravery saved lives during the chaos of the fire.
“This was a large and significant incident with many casualties,” said Capt. Shmulik Friedman, commander of Jerusalem’s Fire and Rescue Service. “The firefighters acted with great courage and determination to save dozens of trapped students.”
Emergency services, including United Hatzalah, set up a triage area outside the seminary while police sealed off nearby streets. Fourteen students were transported to hospitals for further treatment, while others received care on-site.
By late morning, fire commanders declared the blaze under control, averting what could have been a much greater tragedy. Jerusalem authorities have since opened a joint investigation into the incident. Preliminary findings suggest an electrical short-circuit as the likely cause of the fire, according to KAN News.
The selfless actions of these three young men are a testament to the enduring spirit of the Israeli people—a commitment to life, even at great personal risk. The nation now rallies behind these heroes as they fight for their own lives, praying for their recovery.
