Police Seize Weapons at East Jerusalem Pre-Wedding Party
Gunfire prompted a raid that uncovered pistols, an M16, and ammunition, leading to the arrest of two suspects.

A celebration in east Jerusalem turned into a police operation on Wednesday night when gunfire at a pre-wedding party led Israeli authorities to raid the venue and uncover a small weapons cache.
Responding to reports of gunshots, officers entered the party where chaos quickly ensued. According to police, one suspect fled the scene, tossing a pistol aside as he ran. He was apprehended after a brief foot chase. A second individual also attempted to escape but was intercepted, and an M16 rifle with accompanying ammunition was discovered in his vehicle.
Further searches of the venue yielded another pistol, a bullet magazine, and several shell casings, suggesting that shots had been fired earlier during the festivities.
Both suspects men in their twenties from east Jerusalem were arrested on suspicion of illegal possession and use of firearms. Police have confirmed that they will appear in court on Thursday, where an extension of their detention will be sought to facilitate further investigation.
This incident underscores a broader security concern in Jerusalem, where celebrations can sometimes conceal criminal elements or be used as cover for dangerous activity. The swift response and successful confiscation of weapons in this case highlight the ongoing vigilance of Israeli security forces in protecting public safety.
