Inspiring Journey 280 Jewish Moms from 15 Countries Come Together in Israel
A global cohort of 280 mothers from 15 countries gathered in Israel to deepen Jewish identity, support survivors, and ignite communal leadership.
From across continents, nearly 280 Jewish mothers gathered in Israel last month for an immersive eight‑day pilgrimage rooted in heritage, connection, and purpose. This transformative Momentum Journey of Growth brought women from 15 nations including India, Venezuela, France, Canada, the United States, Spain, and Cape Town to bear witness, to learn, and to lead.
Their itinerary carried them to southern Israel near the Nova site, where they met families still rebuilding after the October 7th atrocities. There, they listened to survivors’ stories, volunteered with local communities, and witnessed both the challenges faced by Israeli families and their remarkable strength.
The journey wove through Jerusalem’s sacred landscape Mount Herzl, the Jewish Quarter, and moments of prayer and dance at the Western Wall creating a tapestry of memory, faith, and unity. For many South African participants, it felt like a deeply personal return home. One reflected, “It’s an inspiring trip… now I go with more of a sense of purpose,” committing to foster Jewish pride and connection long after returning.
Momentum began in 2008 as the Jewish Women’s Renaissance Project, founded by a group of eight Jewish mothers known as the “Utah 8.” They envisioned subsidized eight‑day trips to Israel nicknamed “Birthright for Moms” as an investment in Jewish families and communities. Today, the organization works hand‑in‑hand with Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism to empower mothers from around the globe to return home as agents of change.
Momentum’s mission is clear: to spark Jewish values, strengthen identity, and cultivate leadership. The Journey of Growth is more than a trip it’s a lifelong commitment to community, rooted in the land of Israel and carried into the world.
