Building Israel’s Future Jewish National Fund-USA Expands Its Circle of Impact

Strategic investments in infrastructure, healthcare, and employment aim to strengthen Israel’s frontier regions.

The Jewish National Fund-USA is not merely envisioning Israel’s future it is actively building it. With strategic, boots-on-the-ground investments in Israel’s northern and southern regions, JNF-USA is shaping the Negev and Galilee into thriving, attractive hubs for Israeli citizens and new immigrants alike.

Speaking about the organization’s mission, Talia Tzour Avner, JNF-USA’s Chief Israel Officer, emphasized the long-standing goal: “Our vision has always been to strengthen and empower communities in the Galilee and Negev, encouraging young families to move there and improving quality of life."

The challenges of drawing residents away from Israel’s central cities are clear, but the organization believes the north and south are vital for the country’s strategic, economic, and agricultural stability. These regions produce a large portion of Israel’s food supply over 50% of its caloric needs from the Negev and 70% of its eggs and 40% of subtropical fruit from the Galilee.

JNF-USA’s practical approach addresses core community needs: housing, employment, healthcare, security, and quality of life. Its Housing Development Fund has already facilitated over 2,100 housing lots in 47 communities, paving the way for families to plant roots in these regions.

The organization’s Lauder Employment Centers in Beersheba, Akko, and Kiryat Shmona help connect residents and evacuees with quality job opportunities, partnering with leading employers, universities, and industries.

One of JNF-USA’s most ambitious projects is the Galilee Culinary Institute by JNF, soon to open in Kibbutz Gonen. More than just a school, it’s an economic engine featuring restaurants, a chocolatier, a brewery, and farm-to-table initiatives all designed to stimulate growth and attract new residents.

In healthcare, the organization is making a transformative impact with the upcoming Robert and Gale C. Kares Medical Center in Kiryat Shmona. The fortified, state-of-the-art center will serve over 100,000 people, providing emergency care, imaging services, and specialized clinics. “It’s a life-changing investment,” Tzour Avner explains, “bringing jobs, attracting families, and boosting the region’s confidence.”

Remarkably, construction on the medical and culinary centers continued uninterrupted even as Hezbollah rockets lit up the skies. This steadfast commitment has resonated deeply with local residents, reaffirming their sense of security and belonging.

In Israel’s south, JNF-USA is equally active, funding a resilience center for mental health support, an agricultural school, and a Regional Sports Complex designed to nurture future athletes.

Since October 7, JNF-USA has rallied over 5,000 volunteers to assist on the ground, from cleaning damaged communities to supporting farmers and soldiers. Its Israel Resilience Campaign brought in 43,000 new donors, contributing to its $200 million annual campaign.

Ultimately, JNF-USA’s message is clear: Israel’s strength lies not only in its central cities but also in its vibrant frontier communities. Through strategic philanthropy, community-building, and unwavering support, JNF-USA is ensuring that Israel’s north and south are not just places to live, but places to thrive.
