Kevin Spacey visits Gaza border communities devastated by Hamas attack
Hollywood actor pays tribute to victims and witnesses resilience in Israel.
American actor Kevin Spacey recently visited southern Israel, touring areas near the Gaza border that were devastated by the deadly Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack. Accompanied by British author and journalist Douglas Murray, Spacey paid his respects at the site of the Nova music festival massacre and several nearby communities, including Kibbutz Kfar Aza, which suffered immense tragedy during the attack.
Kibbutz Kfar Aza endured the loss of 62 residents, with 19 others taken hostage by Hamas-led terrorists. Among the hostages, Yotam Haim and Alon Shamriz tragically lost their lives in December 2023 after escaping captivity in Gaza but being mistakenly killed by Israeli soldiers.
Spacey, a two-time Academy Award winner, also took time to meet Ayala Levinstein, a lone soldier from the United States serving in the IDF’s combat intelligence unit. Spacey is reportedly a close friend of Levinstein’s father, further deepening his personal connection to the visit.
Douglas Murray, a vocal advocate for Israel, is in the country for a series of speaking engagements, including events at the Tel Aviv Culture Center. His recent participation in a Jerusalem event with conservative commentator Ben Shapiro drew a crowd of 3,000, underscoring the continued global interest in Israel’s fight against terrorism and the challenges it faces.
Spacey’s visit highlights the global solidarity for Israel during a challenging period in its history. By personally engaging with those impacted by the October attack, Spacey has helped to amplify the human stories behind the headlines, bringing attention to the resilience of the affected communities.
