Israeli Hospital Unveils Giant Menorah Made of 25,000 Balloons

Schneider Children's Medical Center combines celebration with a poignant message for Hanukkah.

Schneider Children’s Medical Center in Petach Tikvah has unveiled what is being hailed as the world’s largest chanukiyah (nine-branched menorah) to celebrate Hanukkah. Constructed using an astonishing 25,000 balloons, the massive display is both a celebration of the holiday and a symbol of hope.

This is the 10th year that the Tikva Umarpe organization has collaborated with the hospital to create a giant menorah. This year’s installation, however, includes a yellow ribbon to honor the more than 100 hostages still held by Hamas and other terrorist groups in Gaza.

The menorah’s construction was no small feat, requiring the efforts of 100 volunteers and a professional rappelling team who worked through the night to assemble it. The result is a breathtaking display that captures the spirit of Hanukkah while reflecting on the ongoing hope for the hostages’ safe return.

“Waiting for the miracle of Hanukkah,” the medical center shared in a heartfelt LinkedIn post, expressing solidarity with the families of those awaiting the release of their loved ones.

The menorah stands as a testament to unity, creativity, and the enduring light of hope even in challenging times.
