Israeli Music Icon Matti Caspi Seeks Assistance Amid Cancer Battle
The legendary Israeli musician seeks help as experimental therapies and pain relief go uncovered.

Iconic Israeli singer‑songwriter Matti Caspi has issued a heartfelt appeal: he needs financial assistance to cover his cancer medications and treatments that lie beyond Israel’s standard health coverage. In May, Caspi revealed that advanced cancer with widespread metastases had taken hold, and now, after treatments failed, he’s relying on morphine to manage excruciating pain.
Caspi admits this is the first time he’s asked the public for help. He shared, “This is the first time in my life that I’m standing in front of you… I need you since the country doesn’t recognize me as an oncological patient and refuses to approve me medical help.”
He launched a crowdfunding campaign, aiming to raise around $1.5 million for innovative, experimental therapies not covered by the national health system. “I’ll fight in every way possible, I’ll be stubborn to the end,” he told Channel 12, pointing out the devastating toll: he can no longer play the piano or guitar due to the illness.
Caspi’s legacy spans nearly six decades. He’s performed for wounded soldiers, hospital patients including children and the blind and raised funds to support medical institutions. Now, he humbly asks fans to return the favor. “All I want is to keep living, creating, writing, singing, and keep being here… I’m turning to you now from deep in my heart and asking for your support,” he wrote.
A crowdfunding page set up by the nonprofit “Lend A Hand” outlines several giving tiers from covering rent to medication not included in the public system and promises financial oversight.
Matti Caspi’s plea isn’t just a personal request it’s a testament to the growing gaps in healthcare coverage for advanced, experimental treatments in Israel. Fans have been quick to respond online, with one commenter calling him “the voice and sound of my youth.”
Now, the legendary composer and musician needs the public’s help. His campaign carries a single, moving message: “I will still win. I just need the help.”
Israel thrives when it supports those who have enriched the nation. If Matti Caspi’s music moved you, now’s the time to show up. Share this article or subscribe to our newsletter for updates to support the campaign.
