At Jerusalem’s Western Wall, Milei Declares Israel the ‘Cause of the West’

Argentine president launches historic visit to Israel with powerful statements, pledges deeper ties, and promotes regional alliance with Jerusalem at its heart.

Argentine President Javier Milei made an unforgettable entrance to the State of Israel this week, arriving with a clear message unwavering support for the Jewish homeland. His first stop was Jerusalem’s Western Wall, where he paused in silent prayer, visibly moved, and then delivered words that resonated deeply with Israelis and global supporters alike “My support for Israel comes from the heart, because I believe this is a just cause the cause of the West.”

Surrounded by his delegation including his wife, Secretary General Karina Milei, Foreign Minister Gerardo Werthein, and Ambassador Axel Wahnish President Milei received a hero’s welcome as onlookers broke into song and applause. His visit marks not just a diplomatic gesture but a reaffirmation of a shared civilizational bond between Argentina and Israel.

During his tightly packed itinerary, Milei met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the historic King David Hotel. The leaders discussed enhancing trade partnerships, security collaboration, and mutual cultural exchange underscoring a renewed spirit of cooperation between their nations.

A particularly poignant moment in the visit came as Milei met with families of hostages abducted by Hamas during the October 7 attack. Argentina has been firm in condemning terrorism and has officially designated both Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist entities a significant pivot in its foreign policy.

Milei’s commitment to Israel has not gone unnoticed. On June 11, he will receive the prestigious Genesis Prize, often dubbed the “Jewish Nobel,” in honor of his government’s steadfast support of Israel at international forums. The $1 million award, Milei announced, will be dedicated to launching a diplomatic initiative to encourage pro-Israel alignment in Latin America, beginning with Costa Rica, Panama, and Uruguay.

One of the most tangible outcomes of this new era is the announcement of a direct Buenos Aires–Tel Aviv flight, set to resume for the first time since 2019. “This will be a powerful symbol of our two nations drawing closer,” Milei stated, noting the importance of both symbolic and practical bridges between peoples.

Perhaps the most ambitious vision came through what officials are calling the “Isaac Accords” a multilateral agreement in draft form that promises bold cooperation in counterterrorism, cyber defense, space exploration, and water technology. Ambassador Wahnish revealed that legal teams in Jerusalem and Buenos Aires have already begun reviewing the document, which also includes plans for streamlined customs systems and joint economic ventures along South America’s Paraná River.

Paraguay and Ecuador have signaled intent to join the accord, which may bring about not just increased votes for Israel in the Organization of American States but also expanded landing rights for El Al and other bilateral benefits. Plans are underway for a major Liberty International World Conference in Buenos Aires this December, potentially featuring global dignitaries and even former U.S. President Donald Trump.

President Milei’s visit is more than a diplomatic tour it’s a declaration of friendship, faith, and forward-thinking leadership. His words at the Kotel echo the shared values that bind Israel and Argentina and set the stage for a deeper Latin American alignment with the Jewish state.
