Miriam Feirberg, Mayor of Netanya, Passes Away at 74

Miriam Feirberg, the longtime mayor of Netanya and one of Israel’s most respected municipal leaders, passed away on Friday at the age of 74 after a prolonged battle with a serious illness. She died at home, leaving behind a legacy of public service that reshaped the face of her city and earned her admiration across the political spectrum.

Defense Minister Israel Katz expressed deep sorrow at the loss of “a close and dear friend,” and praised her as a public figure whose impact went far beyond city limits. Opposition leader Yair Lapid noted her transformative contributions to local culture and sports.

Feirberg was more than just a city leader she was a trailblazer. One of the first women to serve as mayor in Israel, she broke barriers with grace and purpose.
