Modi Endorses Trump’s Israel Hamas Deal and Praises Netanyahu’s Leadership

Indian PM welcomes peace breakthrough as sign of strength and a path to regional stability.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has publicly backed the Trump-brokered peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, calling it a positive step toward regional stability and praising Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s leadership during a critical moment in the Middle East.

“We welcome the agreement on the first phase of President Trump's peace plan. This is also a reflection of the strong leadership of PM Netanyahu,” Modi posted Thursday on X/Twitter.

The deal, announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, involves the release of 48 Israeli hostages and a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, marking the first concrete resolution to emerge from the two-year conflict. The agreement, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, is set to be signed in Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh resort.

Modi emphasized the importance of the hostages' return and humanitarian relief. “The release of hostages and enhanced humanitarian assistance will bring respite to them and pave the way for lasting peace,” he said.

India, which maintains strong diplomatic ties with both Israel and key Arab states, has consistently called for calm and dialogue throughout the Gaza war. Modi’s support signals growing international momentum behind the agreement and a shared desire for lasting peace after months of violence and uncertainty.

The Indian leader’s remarks further reinforce the global significance of the Trump plan, which has already received endorsement from major regional players, including Egypt, Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and now India. As the world’s largest democracy and a key partner to both the West and the Middle East, India’s voice adds credibility to the emerging consensus.

Modi’s statement also highlights Israel’s increasingly close ties with India, underpinned by years of mutual cooperation in defense, technology, and diplomacy. His praise for Netanyahu affirms the trust and strategic alignment between the two nations.

As preparations continue for the official signing of the deal, support from global leaders like Modi marks a hopeful turning point not just for Israel and Gaza, but for the wider region’s path to reconciliation and security.
