Mojtaba Khamenei Survives Strike as Israel Warns Iran’s Next Leader
Following Hezbollah’s missile assault in retaliation for Iran’s leadership losses, Israel launches forceful response under Operation Roaring Lion.

The power struggle inside Iran’s leadership is intensifying after reports confirmed that Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, survived the Israeli strike that killed his father during the opening phase of the conflict.
According to Iranian sources cited in international reports, the 55-year-old cleric escaped the attack that struck a heavily secured compound in Tehran where senior regime officials had gathered. The strike killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several members of the regime’s inner circle.
Early rumors circulating through opposition-linked outlets had suggested that Mojtaba Khamenei was also killed in the blast. Those reports were later contradicted by Iranian state-linked media, which confirmed he survived the attack.
However, the strike reportedly claimed the life of his wife and other relatives who were present at the compound.
The death of Iran’s supreme leader who had ruled the country for decades has triggered a historic leadership transition inside the Islamic Republic.
As Iran’s clerical establishment begins the process of selecting a new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei has rapidly emerged as the most frequently mentioned successor.
Analysts say he has spent years quietly building influence behind the scenes, cultivating strong ties with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and key elements of Iran’s political and security apparatus.
While he has never held the formal title of ayatollah or a senior elected position, Mojtaba’s connections within the regime’s power structure have long fueled speculation that he could inherit his father’s role.
The possibility of Mojtaba Khamenei assuming leadership has already prompted a direct warning from Jerusalem.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a stark message indicating that Israel will not differentiate between leaders if they continue the regime’s strategy of hostility toward the Jewish state.
“Any leader appointed by the Iranian terror regime to continue advancing the plan to destroy Israel, threaten the United States and the free world, and oppress the Iranian people will be an unequivocal target for elimination,” Katz said.
“It does not matter what his name is or where he hides.”
The warning underscores Israel’s determination to prevent any future Iranian leadership from pursuing nuclear weapons or directing regional proxy warfare against Israel.
Israel has stated that the ongoing military campaign is aimed at dismantling Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities while weakening the regime structures that sustain its regional influence.
Israeli officials have also emphasized that the campaign is not directed against the Iranian population, but rather against the ruling regime and its military apparatus.
In recent statements, Israeli leaders have repeatedly expressed support for the Iranian people’s desire for greater freedom and political change after decades of authoritarian rule.
Defense Minister Katz reiterated that Israel will continue operating alongside American partners to weaken the regime’s capabilities and create conditions that could allow Iranians to determine their own future.
With the supreme leader’s position suddenly vacant, Iran faces one of the most uncertain political transitions in its modern history.
Whether Mojtaba Khamenei ultimately assumes power or another clerical figure emerges, the leadership decision will shape the country’s direction during a moment of profound upheaval.
For Israel, the guiding principle remains clear: any regime that threatens the Jewish state’s existence will face decisive resistance.
