Mossad’s Eichmann Exhibit Makes Last Stop in Germany

Operation Finale honors Israel’s historic mission as it concludes global tour in Potsdam.

A remarkable exhibition detailing one of Israel’s most daring operations Mossad’s capture of notorious Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann is making its final stop in Germany. Set to open on March 26 at the Film Museum in Potsdam, the exhibit, titled Operation Finale, traces the gripping story of Eichmann’s apprehension and trial, marking a significant moment of historical justice.

Curated by a former Mossad operative, the exhibit has traveled worldwide for over a decade, bringing the story of Eichmann’s capture to audiences across the United States and Europe. This final presentation in Potsdam carries profound symbolism, taking place eight decades after the Holocaust and in the very country where Eichmann’s crimes originated.

Operation Finale showcases a stunning collection of original artifacts from the 1960 Mossad operation, alongside meticulously reconstructed items that highlight the meticulous planning and execution of the mission. The exhibition is further enriched by films, visual materials, and recorded testimonies from key figures involved in Eichmann’s capture, including legendary Mossad agent Rafi Eitan.

Irina Nevzlin, chair of ANU Museum of the Jewish People, emphasized the deeper meaning behind this exhibition’s conclusion in Germany: “Presenting the Operation Finale exhibition in Germany is a moment of deep significance and symbolism. It is not only a testament to the power of historical justice but also a reminder of our commitment to ensuring that the memory of the Holocaust and the heritage of the Jewish people continue to resonate clearly.”

In an era witnessing a troubling resurgence of antisemitism, Nevzlin’s message is clear: “We remind the world the Jewish people live, not just in history, but also in the present and the future.”

The opening ceremony is set to host dignitaries including Dietmar Woidke, the minister-president of Brandenburg, and Israeli Ambassador to Germany Ron Prosor, underscoring the international importance of the event.

Prior to its German finale, Operation Finale captivated audiences in cities such as Munich, New York, Chicago, Houston, and New Orleans, educating and inspiring visitors with the story of how justice was delivered to one of history’s most heinous figures.

Israel’s mission to capture Eichmann remains a defining example of its unwavering pursuit of justice and remembrance a legacy that continues to echo worldwide.
