NBN and FIDF Celebrate Thanksgiving with Lone Soldiers and Volunteers

Over 300 gathered for an evening of gratitude, camaraderie, and a taste of home.

Nefesh B'Nefesh (NBN) and Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) hosted a heartwarming Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday night for over 300 Lone Soldiers and National Service volunteers at the NBN Aliyah Campus in Jerusalem. The event, held in partnership with The Michael Levin Base, offered attendees a much-needed sense of home and community amid the challenges they face in their service to Israel.

The evening featured a traditional Thanksgiving feast, complete with turkey and pumpkin pie, infused with an Israeli twist. Attendees enjoyed live music by the Solomon Brothers, dancing, and photo souvenirs, creating a festive atmosphere of gratitude and celebration.

“During this period of unprecedented challenges, this event serves as a powerful reminder of all we have to be grateful for,” said Noya Govrin, Division Head of the FIDF. “These inspiring young men and women made the courageous choice to leave their homes and dedicate themselves to the success of the Jewish nation. It has been an honor for us to bring them a sense of home during these challenging times, and we remain steadfast in our mission to support them throughout their service and beyond.”

For many, the gathering was more than just a meal it was a moment to pause and reconnect. “This Thanksgiving gathering was more than just a meal. It was a necessary pause from their daily challenges,” said Bonnie Rosenbaum, Co-Director of The Michael Levin Base. “Now, more than ever, we need to support our incredible Lone Soldiers and Lone Bnot Sherut and show them our appreciation for all they do.”

The event provided a space for Lone Soldiers and National Service volunteers to relax, make new friends, and recharge. “Coming together on Thanksgiving for a great meal, good vibes, catching up, and making new friends is so important for these modern-day heroes,” Rosenbaum added.

As these young men and women navigate their service far from their families, events like these serve as a reminder of the unwavering support from organizations like NBN, FIDF, and The Michael Levin Base. It’s a testament to the strength of community and the shared values that bind the Jewish nation together.
