Netanyahu Congratulates President Trump on Inauguration

Israeli Prime Minister praises Trump’s past achievements and anticipates stronger US-Israel ties.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu extended warm congratulations to President Donald Trump on his inauguration for a second term Monday evening. Netanyahu highlighted Trump’s historic contributions to the US-Israel alliance during his first term and expressed optimism about future collaboration.

“Your first term as President was filled with groundbreaking moments in the history of the great alliance between our two countries,” Netanyahu said.

The Israeli leader cited several key achievements of Trump’s presidency, including withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal, recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, affirming Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights, and transferring the US embassy to Jerusalem. Netanyahu also lauded Trump for brokering the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and four Arab nations.

Looking ahead, Netanyahu expressed confidence in working closely with Trump to tackle critical challenges, including securing the release of all hostages, dismantling Hamas’s military capabilities, and ensuring Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel.

“I am sure, Mr. President, that under your leadership, the best days of our alliance are yet to come,” Netanyahu stated.

Trump has received widespread gratitude from Israeli hostages and their families for his involvement in securing their release. Doron Steinbrecher’s family, whose captivity lasted 471 days, extended heartfelt thanks to Trump, calling his support "significant." Liran Berman, the brother of two hostages still in captivity, urged Trump to ensure the full implementation of the hostage deal.

Israel’s leaders joined in celebrating Trump’s return to the White House. Former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Minister for Social Equality and Women's Advancement May Golan took to social media to express their enthusiasm.

Golan addressed Trump and First Lady Melania Trump directly, praising their dedication to fostering peace and prosperity. “The people of Israel are enthusiastic and excited about your entry into the White House,” she wrote. “We pray for His providence over our two nations and for His unwavering aid to you.”

As Trump embarks on his second term, Israel’s leaders and citizens are hopeful for continued strength in the US-Israel alliance, emphasizing mutual goals of peace and security.
