Among the honored soldiers was Lieutenant Avichail Reuven, an Ethiopian immigrant who demonstrated exceptional valor during Hamas’s attack on October 7th. Reuven ran eight miles to the front lines, where his swift actions and bravery saved countless lives, marking him as a true hero.
Master Sergeant Ashaf Al-Bachiri, a Muslim soldier from Rat, was also recognized for his outstanding courage. His service exemplifies the diversity and unity within the IDF, as soldiers from various backgrounds come together to defend their nation.
Lieutenant Asa Sofer, who sustained severe injuries while protecting his fellow soldiers from a grenade, losing his arm and vision in one eye, was another hero celebrated by Netanyahu. Despite his injuries, Sofer’s determination to return to active duty is a testament to his unwavering commitment to Israel’s security.
Lastly, Lieutenant Jonathan Ben Hamo, who lost a leg in Gaza yet continued to fight, embodies the indomitable spirit of the IDF. His perseverance and dedication highlight the extraordinary strength of Israel’s military personnel.
