Netanyahu Says Faith and History Guide Israel Through War
The prime minister says Israel’s strength comes not only from its military but from the enduring spirit of the Jewish people.

As Israel continues its campaign against Iran and its regional proxies, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered a message that focused not only on military strategy but also on the deeper forces he believes sustain the nation.
During a press conference held amid ongoing operations against the Iranian regime and Hezbollah, Netanyahu described the conflict as part of a larger historical journey for the Jewish people.
“This is an opportunity that the Holy One, blessed be He, has given us to return to our land,” Netanyahu said. “To renew our independence, rebuild our strength, and push back our enemies.”
He emphasized that Israel’s determination to defend itself is rooted in centuries of Jewish history and a collective belief that the Jewish people will never again face destruction or exile.
According to Netanyahu, the country’s ability to withstand repeated threats stems from a powerful combination of faith, national identity, and the shared memory of the Jewish past.
The prime minister framed the current war as another chapter in the story of Jewish perseverance.
Throughout history, he noted, the Jewish people have faced immense challenges but have continued to rebuild and strengthen their homeland.
In Netanyahu’s view, the modern State of Israel embodies that same determination.
During the press conference, he also shared a recent conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump that he said illustrated the unique spirit of Israeli society.
Netanyahu recounted how Trump expressed amazement at the way Israelis respond to conflict.
“Only in Israel are the rescue flights reversed,” Netanyahu quoted Trump as saying. “Everywhere else people want to flee war zones, and only in Israel does everyone want to return.”
The phenomenon reflects what Netanyahu described as a deep bond between Israelis and their homeland.
According to him, people living abroad often rush back to the country during difficult times rather than leave it.
Trump, Netanyahu said, repeatedly asked what explains this unusual determination.
“He asks me where this spirit comes from,” Netanyahu said.
The prime minister said his answer is simple.
“It is the secret of our success. It is the resilience of our people. It is the power of our faith — the faith in the eternity of Israel.”
While discussing Israel’s military operations, Netanyahu said Israeli and American forces have achieved significant progress against the Iranian regime and Hezbollah.
He described the campaign as reshaping the balance of power across the Middle East and weakening forces that have long threatened Israel’s security.
But even as he highlighted these strategic successes, Netanyahu returned again and again to the idea that Israel’s most important strength lies within its people.
According to the prime minister, the courage, unity, and faith of Israeli society allow the nation to face even the most difficult challenges.
“This is not the same Iran, this is not the same Middle East, and this is not the same Israel,” Netanyahu said.
He stressed that Israel is not simply reacting to threats but actively shaping events.
“We are not waiting,” he said. “We are initiating, we are striking, and we are doing it with a strength that comes from the resilience and faith of our people.”
For Netanyahu, the moment represents more than a military struggle.
It is part of a broader story of renewal and survival one that has defined the Jewish people for generations.
