Netanyahu Presents Fetterman with Silver-Plated Beeper
Unique gesture celebrates Israel’s innovative strike on Hezbollah as US senator reaffirms support.

In a unique gesture symbolizing Israel’s innovative defense tactics, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented U.S. Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) with a silver-plated beeper during their meeting in Jerusalem on Wednesday. The gift commemorates Israel’s successful September 2024 operation, in which thousands of pagers carried by Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon were remotely detonated a mission referred to as “Operation Pager.”
Netanyahu highlighted the strategic importance of the operation, joking about the lightweight nature of the real beepers compared to the commemorative one. “The real beeper is like one-tenth the weight it’s nothing,” Netanyahu told Fetterman. “But it changes history.”
Senator Fetterman, wearing his signature casual attire of a hooded sweatshirt and shorts, expressed his admiration for the operation. “When that story broke, I was like, ‘Oh, I love it,’” Fetterman said, clearly moved by the significance of the gift.
Fetterman, a steadfast supporter of Israel since Hamas’s brutal October 7 attacks, reciprocated Netanyahu’s gesture by gifting him a framed article and photo from the 1986 dedication of a Philadelphia monument to Netanyahu’s older brother, Yonatan Netanyahu. Yonatan, a hero of the 1976 Entebbe raid that rescued 102 hostages, spent part of his youth in Pennsylvania, as did Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office noted that Netanyahu thanked Senator Fetterman and his wife, Gisele, for their unwavering support of Israel amid the ongoing conflict.
Senator Fetterman’s strong pro-Israel stance has distinguished him as one of Israel’s most vocal allies in the U.S. Senate, reflecting the enduring bond between Israel and its American supporters.
