Netanyahu Vows to Secure Full Hostage Release

Amidst Grim Video Release, Israeli PM Pledges Commitment to Ceasefire Deal and Complete Rescue.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reaffirmed his commitment to securing the release of all hostages under a ceasefire deal, following the release of a disturbing video by families of the captives. The video, which emerged on Monday, shows three hostages—Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Or Levy, and Eliya Cohen being loaded onto a pickup truck by their abductors on the day of their capture.

Netanyahu faced criticism from both the Biden administration and hostage families after suggesting a partial deal that would release some hostages while continuing military operations. Speaking on Channel 14, Netanyahu stated, “I’m ready to do a partial deal, it’s no secret, that will return some of the people to us, but we are committed to continuing the war after the pause.”

The U.S. State Department criticized this stance, emphasizing the importance of a full ceasefire and complete hostage release to prevent ongoing conflict and instability. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller remarked, “For us, that’s just a recipe for continued conflict, continued instability and continued insecurity for Israel.”

The release of the grim video, allegedly filmed by Hamas terrorists on October 7, depicts Goldberg-Polin, an Israeli-American, with a severe arm injury. The families of the hostages stressed the urgency of a comprehensive deal, stating, “Every day that passes puts the hostages at greater risk and diminishes our chances of bringing them back safely.”

Netanyahu, addressing the Knesset, appeared to retract his earlier stance on a partial deal, reaffirming the need for a full ceasefire and hostage release. He acknowledged President Joe Biden’s support for the proposed deal, emphasizing, “We will not end the war until we return all of our hostages – 120 hostages, the living and the deceased.”

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, currently in Washington for high-level meetings, echoed Netanyahu’s commitment, stating, “It is Israel’s primary commitment to return the hostages, with no exception, to their families and homes. We will continue to make every possible effort to bring them home.”

The Israeli government remains resolute in its mission to secure the safe return of all hostages, demonstrating unwavering determination in the face of adversity.
