Netanyahu Condemns Hamas Over ‘Cruel’ Videos of Starving Israeli Hostages
World urged to act as footage reveals tortured captives Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski in Gaza tunnels.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned the release of harrowing propaganda videos by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, showing two Israeli hostages Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski in visibly emaciated and tortured conditions deep within Gaza's terror tunnels. The videos, which have shocked the Israeli public and drawn outrage globally, were described by Netanyahu as evidence of “boundless cruelty.”
After speaking with the hostages’ families, Netanyahu pledged unrelenting efforts to bring them home and demanded international condemnation of Hamas’s actions. “While the State of Israel allows the entry of humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza,” he said, “Hamas terrorists deliberately starve our hostages and document them in a cynical and malicious manner.”
The prime minister accused Hamas of not only starving hostages but also the people of Gaza, manipulating humanitarian aid for terror while blaming Israel in global forums. “The countries of the world must stand up and clearly call out the criminal, Nazi-like abuse by the Hamas terrorist organization,” he urged.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog echoed this call, describing the conditions in the videos as “Nazi-like torture.” “The faces of hostages, Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski, say it all,” Herzog said. “Forced to dig their own graves. Tormented with execution. Starved, tortured, wasting away in Hamas’ terror tunnels.” He demanded global leaders ensure humanitarian aid reaches the civilians of Gaza not the terrorists.
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar also issued an urgent international appeal, describing the footage as evidence of deliberate sadistic abuse. “The world cannot remain silent,” he said, revealing plans to convene a special session at the United Nations Security Council. Sa’ar is pressing world leaders to act decisively to pressure Hamas into releasing the hostages and ending its systematic abuse.
In the videos, 24-year-old Evyatar David is seen digging what he calls his own grave, recounting unbearable hunger and despair. Rom Braslavski also appears frail and gaunt, reportedly nearing death. Their families have accused Hamas of starving the captives to produce these propaganda videos and called for urgent action from both the Israeli government and the international community.
Protests erupted in Tel Aviv following the videos’ release, as Israelis demand immediate efforts to rescue the remaining hostages. Current Israeli estimates suggest around 50 hostages remain in Gaza, with only 20 believed to be alive.
As the world watches in horror, Israel remains resolute: the abuse of its citizens in captivity will not go unanswered. The international community must decide will it stand with justice, or remain silent in the face of terror?
