Netanyahu Considers Postponing Son’s Wedding Amid Security Threats
Prime Minister Cites Safety Concerns Following Hezbollah Drone Attack.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly seeking to delay the wedding of his son, Avner, originally scheduled for November 26 at Ronit Farm near Tel Aviv, due to heightened security concerns. According to KAN News, Netanyahu expressed that holding the wedding as planned could pose safety risks for those attending, particularly amid increased drone threats from Hezbollah.
The Israeli leader’s concerns come after a recent escalation in security threats targeting his family. Last week, Netanyahu’s residence in Caesarea was hit by a drone from Lebanon, an attack later claimed by Hezbollah. Although Netanyahu and his family were not present at the time, the incident underscored the growing threats from Iranian-backed groups and heightened Netanyahu’s caution over large public gatherings.
KAN News reported that Netanyahu emphasized the difference between Israel’s robust missile defense and the evolving challenges posed by drones. While Israel has advanced interception systems for missiles, drone incursions present a complex threat that Israeli defense systems continue to address. The prime minister has also questioned why the Knesset continues to meet in its usual location, hinting at his heightened security concerns.
In response to the attack on his residence, Netanyahu condemned Iran and its regional proxies. “Iran’s proxies, who today attempted to assassinate me and my wife, made a grave mistake. This will not deter me or the State of Israel from continuing the war of resurgence against our enemies to secure our safety for generations to come,” he said. He issued a stern warning to Tehran and its allies, vowing that “anyone who harms Israeli citizens will pay a heavy price.”
The November wedding date remains tentative as Netanyahu weighs security considerations amid escalating hostilities with Hezbollah and Iranian-backed factions. Israel’s recent confrontations with these groups have prompted extensive security reassessments for the country’s leaders, with personal safety and national security at the forefront.
