Following Iran Strikes with U.S., Netanyahu Visits Western Wall in Gratitude
Prime minister prays for Israel’s defenders, hostages, and America’s leadership in sacred Jerusalem ceremony.

In a moment of spiritual solemnity and national pride, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the Western Wall on Sunday to offer prayers following the United States' entry into the military campaign against Iran. Standing at Judaism’s second-holiest site in Jerusalem’s Old City, Netanyahu expressed deep gratitude for American support in Israel’s ongoing defense.
Accompanied by his wife Sara, Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch, and Western Wall Heritage Foundation Director Mordechai “Suli” Eliav, Netanyahu recited prayers for the safety of Israel’s security forces and the 50 hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza now for over 600 days.
A centerpiece of the visit was a special prayer for U.S. President Donald Trump. Known in Hebrew as Hanoten teshuah (“He who grants deliverance”), the prayer thanked the American leader for standing firmly with the Jewish state during one of its most dangerous confrontations.
“Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion,” Netanyahu wrote on a note placed between the ancient stones citing Numbers 23:24. This verse inspired the name of Israel’s coordinated military effort against Iran’s nuclear sites Operation Rising Lion.
The prime minister’s presence at the Western Wall symbolized more than personal faith it echoed the resolve of a nation standing tall amid threats, bolstered by a powerful alliance. Netanyahu’s previous visit just hours before the IDF’s first strike, accompanied by Argentine President Javier Milei, underscored international solidarity with Israel’s right to defend itself.
Operation Rising Lion marks a new chapter in Israel’s defense narrative one where faith, courage, and diplomacy converge. As Israeli and American forces dismantle threats from within the Islamic Republic, the words placed in the Wall now resound not just as prayer, but as prophecy fulfilled.
