Netanyahu and Trump Discuss Completing Israel’s Victory and Freeing Hostages

Israeli Prime Minister emphasizes decisive actions against threats and cooperation with the US.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has shared details of a pivotal conversation with US President-elect Donald Trump, emphasizing their mutual commitment to bolstering Israel’s security and resolving ongoing regional challenges. Speaking on Sunday, Netanyahu described their dialogue as “very friendly, warm, and important,” touching on the critical subjects of freeing hostages and ensuring Israel’s continued strength against its adversaries.

Netanyahu reflected on the dynamic state of the Middle East, noting significant shifts across the region. “A year ago, I said something simple: We would change the face of the Middle East, and we are indeed doing so,” he stated. He pointed to the weakening of regional adversaries, including Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, and Iran, which he claimed have all experienced setbacks due to Israeli actions.

In his remarks, Netanyahu detailed Israel’s proactive measures to counter threats from Syria, a nation he described as a longstanding enemy that has allowed attacks on Israel and facilitated Iran’s arming of Hezbollah. “For decades, Syria was an active enemy state toward Israel,” he explained, highlighting Israel’s recent actions aimed at dismantling Syria’s military capabilities and blocking weapons transfers to Hezbollah.

“Over the course of several days, we have destroyed the capabilities that the Assad regime took decades to build,” Netanyahu said. He noted that Hezbollah itself admitted the loss of its military supply route through Syria, a testament to the effectiveness of Israel’s operations.

Despite these successes, Netanyahu acknowledged ongoing challenges, particularly in preventing Hezbollah from rearming and countering Iranian aggression. He warned Israel’s adversaries: “We will continue to take action against you as necessary, in every arena and at all times.”

The conversation with Trump also focused on efforts to secure the release of Israeli hostages. Netanyahu reaffirmed Israel’s determination to bring its people home, emphasizing the importance of maintaining discretion. “We will continue to act relentlessly to return home all of our hostages, the living and the deceased,” he said, expressing hope for future success.

Netanyahu’s statements underscore Israel’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its people and maintaining stability amid a rapidly changing regional landscape. These efforts, coupled with continued dialogue with allies like the United States, highlight the enduring partnership aimed at ensuring peace and security for Israel and its neighbors.
