Netanyahu Confirms US Trip to Meet Trump and Senior Officials
Talks to focus on Israel’s security, Gaza, Iran, and new trade terms amid shifting tariffs.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed Tuesday that he will travel to the United States next week for high-level meetings with President Donald Trump and other senior American officials, including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The visit comes at a critical time for Israel, following the 12-day war with Iran and amid ongoing military operations in Gaza.
Netanyahu detailed the planned meetings during a cabinet session, stating that discussions will revolve around security coordination, regional diplomacy, and a potential trade agreement between the two nations. Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, one of Netanyahu’s closest advisors, has already arrived in Washington to prepare the ground for the visit.
“I’m expected to travel to the United States next week for meetings with President Donald Trump, Vice President Vance, Secretary Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, and the Secretary of Commerce,” Netanyahu said.
The agenda is packed and strategic. Israel is looking to finalize terms of a new bilateral trade agreement, particularly in light of upcoming changes to U.S. tariffs. The Trump administration had initially proposed a 17% tariff on Israeli imports. Netanyahu is seeking clarity and flexibility as the United States prepares to raise tariff rates on many countries from a temporary 10% to between 11% and 50%.
“We still have a few things to finalize in order to reach a trade agreement in addition to other matters,” Netanyahu noted, signaling that the economic dimension of the trip is just as critical as the security dialogue.
According to officials, Dermer’s meetings this week will explore post-war diplomacy in the region, particularly avenues for resolving the Gaza conflict and building on the geopolitical fallout from Israel’s victory over Iran. The Prime Minister is also expected to meet with key leaders in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to shore up bipartisan support for Israel’s military and diplomatic goals.
Trump, for his part, has recently signaled his continued commitment to bolstering U.S.-Israel ties. Last week, he acknowledged that multiple countries were expressing interest in joining the Abraham Accords a process Netanyahu is expected to discuss further during his trip.
This visit marks a significant moment in Israel’s post-war diplomacy, combining defense strategy, trade policy, and long-term regional stability. For Netanyahu, it’s not just a diplomatic tour it’s a mission to fortify Israel’s future.
