Prime minister praises MDA team and volunteers as ‘Israel at its best’ during emotional tour.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a heartfelt visit Thursday to the world’s first underground blood bank, located in Ramle and operated by Magen David Adom (MDA). Touring the cutting-edge facility alongside MDA leadership and volunteers, Netanyahu lauded the operation as a shining example of “Israel at its best.”

Joined by MDA Global President Gilad Erdan, Director-General Eli Bin, and Executive Committee Chair Rabbi Avraham Manela, Netanyahu received an in-depth overview of the center’s life-saving capabilities, from its state-of-the-art laboratories and protected 101 call center to its advanced emergency vehicle fleet.

“What you're doing here is unparalleled in the world,” Netanyahu declared. “You're saving lives. That is the people of Israel and the State of Israel at their best.”

In a live broadcast to MDA teams nationwide, the prime minister shared his admiration for both the facility and the thousands of volunteers who serve the organization. “I am greatly impressed by the system that was built here, and by the thousands of volunteers,” he said. “You are doing a marvelous job, thank you, you are amazing.”

Beyond the high-tech infrastructure and armored ambulances, Netanyahu said what moved him most was the human spirit behind it all. “What you've done here, what you're doing here, is unparalleled in the world… not just in terms of equipment or technology. The real miracle is the people the structure of the activists, the volunteers. This is Israel.”

The MDA underground blood bank was constructed to ensure a continuous national blood supply, even under threat of war or missile attacks. It reflects the Israeli ethos of proactive preparedness and deep communal care ready to respond in the darkest moments to save lives and preserve hope.
