Strengthening Bonds Oslo Symposium 2025 Unites Israel and Norway Against Antisemitism
Relaunch of Norwegian Israel Allies Caucus signals renewed pro-Israel advocacy.

The Oslo Symposium 2025, held on Friday, brought together politicians, activists, and thought leaders to confront the alarming rise of antisemitism in Norway, Scandinavia, and across Europe. Against a backdrop of diplomatic tensions between Norway and Israel, the event underscored the enduring alliance between Israel and its supporters within Norwegian politics and civil society.
One of the symposium’s key milestones was the relaunch of the Norwegian Israel Allies Caucus in the Norwegian Parliament on March 3. The caucus, dedicated to strengthening Norway-Israel relations and combating antisemitic rhetoric, aims to counter growing hostility toward Israel in European political discourse.
Among the distinguished attendees were Knesset Member Shelly Tal Meron of Yesh Atid, representing the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus (KCAC), and Josh Reinstein, president of the Israel Allies Foundation (IAF). Their presence highlighted the importance of collaboration between Israel and Christian allies in safeguarding democratic values and standing against antisemitism.
In recent years, Norway's increasing support for Palestinian initiatives and its position following the October 7 terrorist attacks have strained diplomatic ties with Israel. The renewed caucus seeks to reverse this trend by advocating for Israel’s right to self-defense and fostering greater political and public support.
Dag Juliussen, director of the Norwegian branch of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ), emphasized the strong grassroots backing for Israel among Norwegian Christians. “Tens of thousands of Norwegian Christians actively support Israel,” Juliussen said. “We were very grateful to have MK Shelly Tal Meron and the delegation from the IAF, including Josh Reinstein and Leo Van Doesburg, join us at this symposium. Their voices needed to be heard, both in the public sphere and within Norwegian political circles.”
The Oslo Symposium 2025 sent a clear message: despite political challenges, support for Israel remains strong among its allies in Norway. With the relaunch of the Israel Allies Caucus, pro-Israel advocacy in Norwegian politics has taken a decisive step forward in countering antisemitism and restoring diplomatic ties.
