Longtime NBA Star Joins Israeli League with Two-Year Deal
Patrick Beverley Joins Hapoel Tel Aviv, Bringing NBA Experience to Israeli Basketball.
Longtime NBA player Patrick Beverley has signed a two-year deal with Hapoel Tel Aviv, marking a significant addition to the Israeli Basketball Premier League. Beverley, known for his defensive prowess, is a three-time NBA All-Defensive Team member who split the 2023-24 season with the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks. He averaged 6.0 points, 2.6 assists, and 3.6 rebounds in 26 games with the Bucks, according to Bleacher Report.
“They gave me everything I asked for,” Beverley said. “I couldn’t refuse.”
Hapoel Tel Aviv’s general manager, George Chinas, expressed his excitement about the signing. “This is a very exciting day. Patrick Beverley is joining the Hapoel Tel Aviv family. I want to thank the owners and all the management who made this happen, and of course thank Patrick as well, who during the meetings with us showed great respect for the club,” said Chinas. “Patrick is very enthusiastic about the move, he is very hungry and ready to prove and fight for the club and the fans.”
Beverley’s NBA career includes stints with the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, and Minnesota Timberwolves. The terms of his contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv were not disclosed, but Beverley had previously mentioned deciding between an NBA veteran minimum deal and a “historic” one in Europe. The veteran minimum for a 12-year NBA player is $3.3 million per season, according to Spotrac.
Beverley’s move to Hapoel Tel Aviv is expected to bring a wealth of experience and defensive strength to the team, greatly benefiting the club and its supporters.
