Pentagon Approves $8.6 Billion F-15 Deal for Israeli Air Force

New agreement with Boeing will deliver cutting-edge fighter jets to bolster Israel’s aerial supremacy and strategic edge in the region.

In a major affirmation of U.S.-Israel defense ties, the Pentagon has finalized a landmark $8.6 billion contract with Boeing to supply Israel with a new fleet of state-of-the-art F-15IA fighter jets. The announcement comes at a time of heightened regional complexity and underscores the deep strategic partnership between Washington and Jerusalem.

The deal, which includes the design, production, and delivery of 25 advanced aircraft with an option for 25 more will significantly expand the capabilities of the Israeli Air Force (IAF), long regarded as one of the most sophisticated in the world. These upgraded F-15IA jets will provide increased range, precision, and lethality, all essential in safeguarding Israel’s skies and maintaining its operational edge.

The timing of the announcement is notable. It followed closely on the heels of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Florida, and earlier discussions with U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine. These talks reaffirmed the unbreakable security bond and mutual strategic priorities shared by the two allies.

The Pentagon emphasized that the agreement strengthens the U.S. commitment to Israel’s qualitative military edge a principle that has long guided U.S. policy. With this new delivery, Israel’s ability to deter adversaries and respond rapidly to threats across multiple fronts will be significantly enhanced.

While questions arose about potential American arms sales to other nations in the region, President Trump noted that such decisions were under consideration but emphasized stability. Meanwhile, Israeli leaders remain clear: maintaining air superiority is not just a national priority, but a stabilizing force in an increasingly volatile Middle East.

That principle was on full display during the recent pilot graduation ceremony at Hatzerim Airbase, where a new class of elite IAF combat pilots received their wings. Addressing the graduates of Flight Course No. 191, Prime Minister Netanyahu highlighted the critical role of air power in defending the nation.

“Israel’s air superiority in the Middle East is a foundation of our national defense,” he declared. “We will continue to equip our pilots with the most advanced tools to ensure the safety and future of our country.”

From the desert runways of the Negev to the halls of the Pentagon, the shared mission is clear: a secure Israel, equipped with the most advanced means to defend its sovereignty, protect its people, and ensure peace through strength.
